PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber connector assembly including an improved fanout optical fiber connector. SOLUTION: A fanout connector 20 for an optical fiber cable 28 including a plurality of optical fibers 30 is provided. The connector is provided with housing means 22 and 24 having a passage 34 for receiving the optical fiber cable transversely along an axis 36. A fanout member 26 spreads the individual optical fiber 30 of the optical fiber cable 28 transverse direction of the axis 36 in the housing means. At least one frangible mounting member 64 for mounting the connector to an appropriate support structure is provided on the housing means. The mounting member 64 can easily be detached from the housing means when the connector is used as a stand-alone unit.
