PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hoist capable of improving safety at the cargo handling work by preventing the swinging of a lift hook during cargo handling. SOLUTION: This hoist 1 is provided with a torsion spring 9 made of an elastic member between a hoist body such as a drive section 2 and a suspension support hook 7 rotatably fitted to the hoist 1 by a bolt 5. One end 9a of the torsion spring 9 is made to abut the side face of the drive section 2, i.e., the side face of the hoist body, and the folded other end 2B is made to abut the side face of the suspension support hook 7, i.e., the side face of a rotation section 7a. When the whole hoist is suspended by utilizing the suspension support hook 7, the suspension support hook 7 is arranged along the vertical line (a) by the weight of the hoist 1, the torsion spring 9 applies force to the side face of the drive section 2, i.e., the hoist body, with its elasticity by using the side face of the suspension support hook 7 as a fulcrum, and the attitude of the whole hoist is kept at a horizontal state by the force.
