PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cam shaft for a four-cycle engine capable of suppressing the wear of a cam, enhance durability, preventing the generation of rattle sound, and enhancing a commodity value. SOLUTION: In the cam shaft 30 for the four-cycle engine having a single cam 31 and a cam gear 32, the cam 31 and the cam gear 32 are formed as a separate body, the cam 31 is made from metal and the cam gear 32 is made from resin. Since the cam 31 and the cam gear 32 of the cam shaft 30 are formed as the separate body and the cam 31 is made from the metal, the wear of the cam 31 is suppressed and durability is enhanced, and since the cam gear 32 is made from the resin softer than the metal, the generation of rattle sound caused by the cam gear 32 is prevented, and the commodity value of the cam shaft 30 is enhanced.
