The end piece (1) - typically mfd. in one-piece from plastics - has a cap end (4) and a plug section (5) designed to fit the inner contour of the profiled rail into whose end it is plugged. The cap is designed to fit around the rail to prevent contact and consequent damage between the cut end of the rail and the vehicle body panel (3). The end piece has an elongated hole (7) for a mounting bolt (9) to facilitate longitudinal adjustment for effective attachment. The end piece also provides tolerance equalisation with the rail.
