PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core material for an artificial joint which is lightweight of being the half or below compared with stainless steel and has rigidity nearly equal to stainless steel. SOLUTION: This core material is composed of a metal-ceramics composite material using SiC powder of 40 to 80 vol.% as a reinforcing material and an Al-Si-Mg based aluminum alloy as a matrix.
