PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable gain amplifier that can control the gain at a low gain or attenuation for a high frequency amplifier used for a communication unit that transmits/receives a high frequency signal. SOLUTION: The variable gain amplifier provided with an amplifier element that amplifies a signal, a variable resistor element that controls the resistance depending on the potential of a control terminal where two stages of the amplifier elements or more are connected, is characterized in that the variable resistor element is connected between the outputs of the amplifier elements whose output phases are inverted to each other.
