New poly(ethynylene-phenylene-ethynylene-silylene) polymers with an inert spacer group useful as heat-stable plastics

New poly(ethynylene-phenylene-ethynylene-silylene) polymers comprise at least one repeat unit comprising two acetylenic bonds, at least one silicon atom, at least one inert spacer group, and terminal groups derived from a chain-limiting agent. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a process for producing the polymers; (2) hardened products produced by heat treating the polymers at 50-700 deg C; (3) matrices for composites comprising the polymers.
