PURPOSE: An LCD device for accelerating an initial bend orientation and an apparatus and a method for driving the same are provided to accelerate the initial bend orientation in a driving process of the LCD device of an OCB(Optical Compensated Birefringence) mode. CONSTITUTION: A timing control portion(100) outputs the first switching signal and a backlight control signal of off state at an initial state and the second switching signal and the backlight control signal of on state after a predetermined time. A DC/DC converter(400) outputs a predetermined bias voltage. A switching portion(500) outputs a bias voltage if the first switching signal is received from the timing control portion or a common electrode voltage if the second switching signal is received from the timing control portion. An inverter(700) is used for applying a backlight drive voltage according to the backlight control signal of on state. A backlight portion(800) outputs a light source according to the backlight drive voltage. A gate driver(200) outputs a scanning signal. A source driver(300) outputs a picture signal. An LCD panel(600) is formed with a multitude of gate line, a multitude of source line, a switching element, a pixel electrode.
