The heat recuperator for a dwelling heater has a heat exchanger housing (WG) built into the flue (K) and extending between the heating cellar to the roof story. A gas guide sheet extends between the flue pipe and the heat exchanger and around the pipe. Fresh air enters through an opening in the heat exchanger housing and passes through the guide sheet for discharge into a room to be heated.
