PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for managing fault data of a network management system are provided to enable an operator to directly manage fault records by converting raw fault data transmitted from an exchange system into the form of text. CONSTITUTION: A console(10) receives conversion rule factors capable of determining fault data output format from an operator. The console(10) applies the factors to a conversion unit(30). In addition, the console(10) receives text files converted from the conversion unit(30). A raw fault file storing unit(20) stores raw fault data transmitted from an exchange system in the form of file. In addition, the raw fault file storing unit(20) provides the raw fault data to the conversion unit(30) according to a request of the conversion unit(30). The conversion unit(30) converts the raw fault files stored in the raw fault file storing unit(20) into text fault files. In addition, the conversion unit(30) applies the text fault files converted to the text fault file storing unit(40).
