Arthroscopic simulator of an articular cavity

The simulator consists of a dummy instrument (3) with an electromagnetic emitter and receiver simulating an arthroscope, and a graphics system (2) with an acquisition module (9) and generator (10) to display a three-dimensional image of a simulated joint cavity in real time on a screen (11) according to the position and orientation of the dummy instrument. <??>The image is based on a simplified three-dimensional model of the main anatomical components in the cavity, e.g. of a shoulder joint, made directly or indirectly from digital data generated from a geometrical model and formed from successive layers by laser polymerisation of a light-hardened resin in liquid form to produce the components or moulds for them.
