The steering mechanism, comprising an axle (2) fixed to the vehicle or machine chassis (1) by a support (6) and having articulated joints on its ends for the steerable wheels (3a, 3b), has the support articulated relative to the axle and chassis by pivots with axes (7, 11) that converge towards the rear of the vehicle or machine. The support is pivoted to the axle by front and rear stub axles and to the chassis by front and rear bearings (10a, 10b).
