PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a titanium dioxide pigment excellent in durability on exposure to light, having high whiteness and suitable particularly for application to a laminated paper, especially a neutralized paper used for a laminate, and to provide a process for producing the same. SOLUTION: A first coating layer comprising cerous oxide or a cerous salt, or a hydrate thereof and aluminum oxide or its hydrate is applied on the surface of titanium dioxide particles, a second coating layer comprising aluminum phosphate or its hydrate is applied thereon, and a third coating layer comprising aluminum oxide or its hydrate is further applied thereon.
