<p>A method of preparing a vacuum insulation panel is disclosed. In the method of the present invention, a plurality of metal oxide-containing compacts (11), each of which contains less water than the amount of water contained therein at atmospheric equilibrium, are enclosed in a film (12) that retards the passage of moisture therethrough. The film (12) is breached and the metal oxide-containing compacts (11) are positioned in an air-impermeable container (14) at atmospheric pressure. The pressure is reduced in the air-impermeable container (14), and the air-impermeable container (14) is sealed to form the vacuum insulation panel (16). Also disclosed is vacuum insulation panel (16) comprising a plurality of metal oxide-containing compacts (11) disposed in an air-impermeable container (14), wherein the metal oxide-containing compacts (11) contain less water than the amount of water contained therein at atmospheric equilibrium.</p> |
