PURPOSE: A spindle motor assembly and a hard disk assembly applying the same are provided to center a disk in a motor hub using a sleeve and protuberances, so as to improve entire dynamic balance of the spindle motor assembly. CONSTITUTION: Disks(12) are coupled to a hub of a spindle motor(14) by a sleeve(42). The disks are separated by spacers(44) coupled to the motor hub by the sleeve. The sleeve has protuberances(46) contacted to the disks and internal surfaces(48) of the spacers. The sleeve and protuberances center the disk and spacers to balance a spindle motor/disk assembly. The sleeve has a slit. The slit is made of aluminum, iron and other metals, and allows the centering sleeve to be expanded inside the assembly and slided to the motor hub. The protuberances are dimples having convex surfaces in the metal sleeve. The sleeve is expanded along the length of the motor hub, to center the disk and spacers of the spindle motor/disk assembly.
