PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium which has excellent electromagnetic transducing characteristics and can be stably stored. SOLUTION: In this magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic base layer which is formed on a base material and contains inorganic powder and a binder, and a magnetic coating layer which is formed on the above base layer and contains the powder of a ferromagnetic metal which is suspended in the binder, characteristically, the powder of the ferromagnetic metal has an average long-axis length of 0.05 to 0.12 μm and the lattice distortion of the metal crystal is 0.0020 or smaller. |
