PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the destruction of the recording layer of a phase change optical recording medium, in an optical recording reproducing device that writes and reads information by irradiating an optical recording medium with laser light. SOLUTION: Information on erasing power at the time of recording is recorded in advance in the phase change optical recording medium. Only when the information recorded on the phase change optical recording medium is erased, the optical recording reproducing device recognized the erasing power recorded on the phase change optical recording medium and information on linear velocity and conducts erasure with an erasing power less than 90 percent and more than 50 percent at the time for recording. A recording material used in a recording layer 4 of the phase change optical recording medium 1 includes at least either Ag, In, Sb or Te. |
