PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator and manufacturing method, the separator having elasticity and a low electric resistance so that the assembling efficiency of a battery is high. SOLUTION: The separator has at least one line of nonwoven fabric sheet with 0 to 50 mm width, which is welded to the one side of a separator board together, the nonwoven sheet being lined within a width narrower than the sheet width, wherein the sheet gives elasticity to the separator. The material of the nonwoven fabric is preferable to be the one easy to be welded to the separator board together, especially PET(polyethylene telephthalate) is desirable. To achieve lower electric resistance, the joints of welding are preferable to be arranged as lines, dots, or mesh. The separator is manufactured by cutting out the sheet with a prescribed width from a wide nonwoven fabric roll and joining the sheet to the separator, and finally winding up the sheet on a roll as the separator.
