SOLID ELECTROLYTE

A solid electrolyte having pores with a center pore diameter of 1 to 30 nm and comprising an organic/inorganic composite material which has a skeleton comprising organic groups having at least one metal atom, at least one oxygen atom bonded to the metal atom, and at least one carbon atom bonded to the metal atom or oxygen atom and has ion-exchanging functional groups bonded to the organic groups within the pores. The solid electrolyte can have sufficiently high ionic conductivity at low temperatures even when the relative pressure of water vapor in the atmosphere is less than 1.0, as compared with conventional solid electrolytes such as stabilized zirconium.
