PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear driver and an absolute linear encoder which do not require preparation for a linear motor having a stroke which is longer than the drive range and a linear absolute encoder, or the zero positioning work due to the relative movement thereof. SOLUTION: The linear motor and absolute linear encoder 20 are provided. The absolute linear encoder is provided with a microcomputer 23 for calculating the absolute origin position of a detector 22 for a scale section 21, an up-down counter 24 for storing the calculated absolute origin position data and a non- volatile memory 26. The microcomputer 23 obtains, when an absolute origin position setting command is given, the absolute origin position of the detector for the scale section and stores this absolute origin position data to the non- volatile memory as a deviation amount. Moreover, when the power source is turned on, the absolute origin position of the detector for the scale section is obtained and a difference between this absolute origin position data and deviation amount is set to the up-down counter 24. |
