DISK PLAYING DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent data transfer from being interrupted by read errors. SOLUTION: The information recorded on a disk is read while the disk is rotated at a prescribed revolving speed in this disk playing device. The revolving speed of the disk is changed (steps 33 and 38) according to the frequency of read errors (steps 31 and 36). The revolving speed of the disk is decreased (step 33) or increased (step 38) when read errors continuously occur prescribed times (step 31) or do not occur (step 36). The revolving speed of the disk is decreased or increased when read errors occur at a prescribed rate or do not occur while a prescribed number of frames are read.
