Plants automated diagnosis by colour image analysis

The colour image obtd. from a CCD camera is memorised (1) and converted ito digital signals for a display editor (3) while a keyboard is used to display (5) an image for enlargement or redn. with red, green and blue values of a selected part. Background colours are suppressed (7) leaving a leaf image in which the values of tints are detected and stored (11) with date information. The values are averaged overall (13) and in areas showing spots of disease (15) as well as in healthy areas (17). The averages are stored (19), and corrections (21) are applied to produce normalised relative brightness values.
