<p>Air-oil separators of this invention comprise a housing (102) having an internal chamber defined by a housing sidewall surface (108) that extends axially from a housing base (106) to a housing open end (104). The open end (104) includes a removable lid (112) disposed thereon. The housing (102) includes an inlet (138) for receiving an air-oil mixture into the internal chamber from an internal combustion engine, and an outlet (144) for passing a separated air stream from the internal chamber and out of the housing (102). An oil coalescing filter element (124) is removably disposed within the internal chamber and is positioned/interposed between the inlet (138) and outlet (144). A vacuum control device (142) is disposed onboard or offboard of the separator to provide a vacuum regulated environment within the housing internal chamber between the inlet (138) and outlet (144). Thus configured, air-oil separators of this invention provide improved air and oil separation efficiencies when compared to conventional air-oil separators.</p> |
