PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the operation cost required for the entire part of an on-line KARAOKE sing-along machine (hereafter karaoke) system. SOLUTION: The method of operating the on-line karaoke system, in which karaoke data is delivered from the karaoke server to respective karaoke playing terminals and is accumulated in the memory section of the respective karaoke playing terminals; the karaoke playing terminals set the musical pieces belonging to a specific category at invalid musical pieces according to user input, forward the invalid musical piece notification telegraphic messages stating the setting state to the karaoke server and report and output the extent that requested invalid musical pieces cannot be played without playing the same; the karaoke server calculates the fare for utilization of the information at the respective karaoke playing terminals in accordance with the terminal management information stored in an management information database and updates the management information database by stating the necessary information in the forwarded invalid musical piece notification telegraphic messages to the corresponding terminal management information. |
