PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position display device which distinctly displays the relative positional relations of a target point by effectively utilizing a display region even with a display means having the small display region and low resolution and a position display method. SOLUTION: The position display device 1 of a portable type to indicate the relative positional relations of the target point arbitrarily settable with respect to a reference point relating to a geographical position is provided with a positioning means 51 which positions the reference point and the target point, respectively, by utilizing the geographical position information sent from outside and a display means 50 which has the rectangular display region provided with orthogonal grating-like grid lines extending in directions different from each other and displays the relative positional relations of the reference point and the target point by a rectangular display in accordance with the results of positioning.
