PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate exchanging work of a paper roll and maintenance work of each component, and to improve operability of operations required for the works. SOLUTION: A cassette 203 having paper holding part 206 and a platen 207 is made drawable out of a body case 201, a printing head 204 facing to the platen 207 is jumped up while being drawn in response to the drawing operation of the cassette 203, and the printing head 204 is stored in response to a pressing operation of the cassette 203. Such operations of the printing head 204 are performed with respect to the drawing and pressing operations of the cassette 203 to a halfway part. Thus, setting work or the like of the paper roll for a paper roll holding part 206 is facilitated, and its operability is improved. When the printing head 204 is drawn out and jumped up, a cutter disposed at its tip moves to an evacuating position to be covered with a cutter cover 231 to secure safety.
