PURPOSE: To provide a steel sheet for a disk brake having a performance of suppressing the generation of warpage in martensitic stainless steel in which the content of C is reduced and to provide a brake disk using the same. CONSTITUTION: This steel sheet for a disk brake has a chemical composition containing, by mass, 0.05 to 0.15% C, < =1.0% Si, < =2.0% Mn, < =1.0% Ni, 9.0 to 15.0% Cr, 0.5 to 4.0% Cu, 0.10 to 2.0% Mo, < =0.10% N and 0.05 to 1.0% Nb, and, if required, containing one or more kinds selected from < =0.50% Ti, < =0.2% Al, < =0.015% B, < =0.2% rare earth metals, < =0.2% Y, < =0.1% Ca and < =0.1% Mg, and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities. The γ max value defined as γ max=420C+470N+23Ni+23Ni+7Mn+9Cu-11.5Cr-11.5Si-12 Mo-3.5Nb+189 is controlled to < =80. In the brake disk obtained from the same steel sheet, the warpage height in the outer circumference of the disk after the application of temperature rising at a temperature rising rate of 5 to 20°C/sec→holding at 600°Cxsoaking for 10 sec→water cooling for 500 cycles is controlled to < =0.3 mm.
