PURPOSE: A cathode ray tube is provided to prevent a contraction phenomenon of a panel by forming a cover type external support plate for connecting a funnel with a funnel in an outer portion of the cathode ray tube. CONSTITUTION: A cathode ray tube is formed with the first plate(1), a funnel(12), a sidewall(14), and a cover type external support plate(13). The first plate(1) is formed by a rectangular glass. A multitude of neck portion is mounted in the funnel(12). The sidewall(14) is extended from a peripheral portion of the first plate(1) to a vertical direction. A multitude of hole is formed in the cover type external support plate(13). The cover type external support plate(13) is combined with the funnel by using the holes. The cover type external support plate(13) is connected with the sidewall(14).
