THERMOSETTING WATER-BASED COATING COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide thermosetting water-based coating compositions which excel in the dispersibility of pigments and form coating films with good gloss and, in addition, have improved storage stability. SOLUTION: The thermosetting water-based coating compositions comprise (a) a resin having a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group, (b) a crosslinking agent, (c) a neutralizing agent, and (d) a titanium dioxide pigment whose surface has been coated with 1.0-5.0 wt.% hydrated oxide of silicon in terms of SiO2 and 1.0-4.0 wt.% hydrated oxide of aluminum in terms of Al2O3 in the order named.
