PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide padding welding inspection method and device for detecting even a small defect at a padding welding section with sufficient accuracy, using the ultrasonic flaw detection method. SOLUTION: The presence or the absence of a defect at the padding welding section C formed on the surface of piping B is inspected using the ultrasonic flaw detection method. An ultrasonic wave from a probe 11, that is arranged at the member surface side where the padding welding section C is located, is made to enter from a direction that is vertical to the direction in which a padding welding bead D is extended, and from a direction that is inclined by a specific angle with respect to the termination side of the padding welding section C from a direction that is vertical to the member surface, where the padding welding section C is located, so as to inspect the presence or absence of the defect at the padding welding section C.
