PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a kit where hydroxyproline in a sample can be detected selectively, quickly, simply and with high sensitivity, especially even when there are a large number of samples. SOLUTION: The sample, which contains hydroxyproline is formed in such a way that 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazane or 4-fluoro-7-nitrobenzofurazane, is immobilized to a solid phase. By using the kit for the detection of the hydroxyproline containing a buffer or the like, the sample is reacted, the characteristic fluorescence (or absorption) of a generated reaction product is measured, and the hydroxyproline is quickly and simply detected with high sensitivity.
