PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image observing device by which even a peripheral part of a visual field can be favorably observed when image information is observed by direct projection onto a retina and to obtain an image observing system using the same. SOLUTION: The image observing device has an image display means for displaying the image information and a display optical system for projecting the image information displayed in the image display means onto the retina of an observing eye and observes the image information and further has an incident light flux controlling means for changing position of the light flux incident onto a pupil surface of the observing eye.
