<p>A compound of formula (I) is new where R1 = hydrogen or hydroxyl; R2 = hydroxyl, cyano, nitro, amino, aminomethyl, N-alkylamino or N-alkylaminomethyl, the alkyl being 1-6C alkyl; R1 and R2 being ortho relative to each other and meta or para relative to the phenyl substituent; R3 = polyalkyl of average mol. wt. 450-5000. A method for reducing engine deposits in an internal combustion engine using the above additive is also claimed. A fuel composition comprises a major amount of hydrocarbons of gasoline or diesel boiling range and an effective deposit-controlling amount of the above additive. A fuel concentrate comprises an inert stable oleophilic organic solvent of b.pt. 150-400 [deg]F and 10-70 wt.% of the above additive.</p> |
