LIQUID JET DEVICE AND METHOD OF RECOVERING EJECTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a method of forming an image capable of eliminating a problem wherein a preliminary ejection along with consumption of a large amount of ink is executed in order to prevent a color mixture phenomenon. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a recording head 201 for performing a recording operation and a cap 503 which is brought into intimate contact with a liquid ejection section and is separated therefrom and performs ejection of a liquid from the recording head 201 while the cap 503 moves from a condition that the cap 503 is intimately contacted with the liquid ejection section to a condition that the cap is away from the liquid ejection section. The image forming apparatus further comprises a sucking means for performing a sucking operation through the cap 503 and performs ejection of a liquid from the recording head 201 while the cap 503 moves from a position where the cap 503 is intimately contacted with the liquid ejection section to a position where the cap is away from the liquid ejection section after the sucking operation by the sucking means.
