METHOD FOR TREATING SOLID MATTER CONTAMINATED BY ORGANIC HALIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a solid matter contaminated by an organic halide by which a harmful organic halide such as dioxins in the solid matter contaminated by the organic halide can be efficiently decomposed and the treated solid matter can be used as a land-fill material without the necessity to after-treat the solid matter. SOLUTION: This method for treating the solid matter contaminated by the organic halide comprises the steps to thermally knead the solid matter contaminated by the organic halide together with asphalt, an alkaline metal compound and sulfur under such conditions that the inflow of air be substantially shut off and thereby decompose the organic halide.
