PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod having a balance weight resistant to the intrusion of sand and dust in the female screw part of the weight, preventing the contact with the inside of the butt end of the rod, enabling easy machining of the outer circumference and facilitating the delicate adjustment of the weight. SOLUTION: A grip-supporting part 2 is fixed to the inner circumference of the butt end 1a of a butt section 1 with an adhesive. A rear grip 3 is screwed into the grip-supporting part 2 and spacers 4, 4' are screwed on the outer circumference of the rear grip 3 at the back of the grip-supporting part 2. A balance weight A composed of balance members 7, 8 is attached to a butt cap 5 and inserted into the rear grip 3. The male screw 7b of the balance 7 is screwed into the female screw 5c of the butt cap 5, the male screw 8b of the balance 8 is screwed into the female screw 7c of the balance 7, the male screw 9b of an elastic member 9 is screwed into the female screw 8c of the balance 8 and the outer diameters of the cylinders 7a, 8a of the balance members 7, 8 are made to be smaller than the outer diameter of the collar-shaped large- diameter part 9a of the elastomer 9.
