PURPOSE: An apparatus for recognizing a text edition gesture in a multimedia terminal and a text editing method using the apparatus are provided to edit a text that is being formed on a text edition window of a personal computer or a multimedia terminal using an electronic pen. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for recognizing a text edition gesture in a personal computer or a portable multimedia terminal using an electronic pen is constructed in such a manner that Hidden Markov model is used for each gesture model, and a gesture is directly displayed on a character to be corrected of a text that is being formed on a text edition window based on the model, thereby editing the text.
