Lime composition comprises calcium hydroxide, water and monosaccharides and/or oligosaccharides. An Independent claim is also included for a carbonated lime composition obtained by applying the lime composition to a substrate and forming calcium carbonate by reacting the calcium hydroxide in the composition with CO2. Preferred Features: The calcium hydroxide is in the form of non-hydraulic lime or hydraulic lime. Glucose, fructose and/or galactose is used as the monosaccharide. Saccharose, maltose and/or lactose is used as the oligosaccharide. The composition also contains pigments made from titanium dioxide and/or iron oxide.
