<p>A method of infiltrating a linear material with a molten metal whereby the linear material is previously coated with a flux. The linear material 7 is introduced into a bath 3 of molten metal 4 through an inlet seal 1 in the bottom of the bath and continuously drawn through an outlet seal 2 towards the top of the bath. Prior to being introduced to the bath the linear material is coated with a flux 5 by a flux coating reservoir (6) situated in the vicinity of the inlet seal. Suggested materials include carbon fibre for the linear material, and sodium chloride and lithium chloride for the flux.</p> |
