A cooling system which comprises a screw rotor compressor 11, a condenser 12, first pressure-reducing members 13, an economizer 14, second pressure-reducing members 15 and an evaporator 16 is provided with an economizer duct 22, 23 which connects the economizer 14 to a closed working chamber in the compressor 11. The cooling capacity is regulated by a valve 17 in the economizer duct 22, 23 controlled by sensing means 28 which sense a parameter of the coolant in the cooling circuit, which parameter constitutes an indication of the requisite cooling capacity. The valve 17 regulates the mass flow of gaseous coolant through the economizer duct. In a preferred embodiment, the closed working chamber in the compressor 11 can be connected to the compressor inlet by a return duct 23, 24, which connection is also regulated by the valve 17. <IMAGE> |
