PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat membrane element capable of being uniformly back washed. SOLUTION: In the flat membrane element 10, two nonwoven clothes 12 and 13 are each fixed on the periphery of a supporting frame 11, and a member 15 for keeping clearance, which has corrugated cross section, is inserted inside the frame 11 so as to divide the inside into seven spaces. Thereby, as the inside is divided into seven spaces, pressure loss becomes small when back washing is conducted and the back washing can be carried out uniformly.
