PURPOSE: A method for managing a signaling network comprising a mixed MTP(Message Transfer Part) signaling point is provided to connect a message between a wideband signaling point and a narrowband signaling point without disposing of a signal message by using the message segmentation function of an MTP user part. CONSTITUTION: An MTP user part waits for a signal message transfer request(S801). If the signal message transfer request is generated, the MTP user part judges whether a signaling point, to which a message will be transferred, is accessible(S802). In case that it is impossible to access the signaling point, the MTP user part executes a processing procedure based on the failure of signal message transfer(S803). In case that it is possible to access the signaling point, the MTP user part calculates the maximum message size of the signaling point through a modified signaling point available information primitive(S804). Then the MTP user part compares the calculated value with the size of the message to be transferred(S805). In case that the calculated value is larger than the size of the message to be transferred, the MTP user part transmits an MTP transfer request primitive to request an MTP to transfer the signal message(S808). However, if the calculated value is smaller than the size of the message to be transferred, the MTP user part judges whether a message segmentation function is available(S806). In case that the message segmentation function is available, the MTP user part segments the message to be transferred(S807). Then the MTP user part requests the transfer of the segmented signal messages to the MTP through an MTP transfer request primitive(S808).
