In an asynchronous communication, a star-type host computer which is a conventional data multiplexer is replaced with a subnetwork based on token passing. There is no need, however, for respective nodes constituting the subnetwork to hold a token during transmission. A method is also provided that a node connected by a ring type topology is logically cut off to be formed into a directly-connected logical bus type. Main functions and structures of a subnetwork and a node are as follows: 1. Data (42 to 45) are sent out in the advancing and backing directions of a token (41). 2. Each node (29 to 39) has FIFO memory (43) with the same capacity as that of a data length. 3. Flow control data for avoiding a congestion condition is sent out following a token signal. 4. Data and a method for recognizing network connection conditions are provided. |
