The invention concerns an armature shaft (22) of a rotary electric machine rotor, comprising a central section (20) receiving a magnetic circuit, and two front (24) and rear (26) end sections forming journals guiding in rotation (X-X) the shaft (22), and comprising a toothed gear (28) connected in rotation with the shaft, arranged axially at the front axial end of the central section (20) and shaped as an element directly mounted on the shaft. The invention is characterised in that the directly mounted gear is fixed to the shaft (22) by welding. The invention is useful for producing an electric motor (12) for a starter of a motor vehicle with reduction gear.
