PURPOSE: An array panel for a liquid crystal display and a method of fabricating the array panel are provided to form a gate from a single metal layer and improve a stacked structure at a portion where ITO and aluminum come into contact with each other, thereby simplifying a fabricating process and improving production yield. CONSTITUTION: An array panel for a liquid crystal display includes a gate line formed from a single metal layer, a data line that intersects the gate line and includes a drain electrode(118) and a source electrode, and a thin film transistor including the source and drain electrodes. The array panel further includes a pixel electrode(130) connected with the thin film transistor, a gate pad placed at the end of the gate line, a contact buffering layer(122) located on the gate pad, and a gate pad electrode(132) coming into contact with the contact buffering layer. The contact buffering layer is formed of the same material as the material of the data line, and the gate pad electrode is formed of the same material as material of the pixel electrode.
