<p>A method of fitting a file rigidifying assembly to a file folder (12) of the type having first and second opposed (14, 16) covers hinged to and spaced apart from one another by a spine (18), the method includes the steps of providing a planar rigidifying flap (48) having a fixable end formed with a first set of thermo-formable mounting studs (54); providing a flap-engaging element formed with a second set of thermo-formable mounting studs (56), the free end of the flap and the flap-engaging element being formed with fastening means for enabling the free edge of the rigidifying flap (48) to be fastened detachably to the flap-engaging element; forming first and second corresponding sets of stud-registering apertures through the first and second file covers adjacent the free edges remote from the spine; inserting the first and second sets of mounting studs through the corresponding first and second sets of stud-registering apertures from the inner faces of the first and second file covers so that they protrude from the outer faces thereof; and thermo-forming the protruding ends of the studs into expanded retaining heads so as to fix the rigidifying flap and flap-engaging element to the file cover.</p> |
