The present invention relates to a novel method and formulation for the induction of immune responses against polypeptide antigens. In particular, the invention provides a method and formulation for induction of cytotoxic T cell responses against a polypeptide antigen of choice. The formulations are characterized by containing chitosan in admixture with the polyptide antigen, preferably in the form of microparticles that may be cross-linked.
