The foot fastening point for railings with posts (22) is a mounting base (1) which has a profiled rail in which is fixed and longitudinally movable the post by its slot furthest from the panelling element (50), or a support arm (39) of the same cross section as the post. The rail has a bed from the base of which rises a rail head. The cross section of the rail head corresponds to the cross section of the holding slot in the post and/or support arm. The rail head has a cross section which in the main is trapezoidal.
