The invention relates to a method for controlling at least one inductive consumer by means of a pulse width modulated control signal using a PWM control unit, wherein the control pulses of the PWM control signals connect and disconnect the consumer to/from a supply direct current by means of a semiconductor final stage. In order to prevent the formation of an alternating voltage in the supply direct current during pulse loading of the latter by the PMW control unit, an additional device comprising a storage capacitor and/or storage inductance with a semiconductor switch is assigned to the PWM control unit. The semiconductor switch controlled by the PWM control unit connects a load current circuit supplied by the supply direct current for the storage capacitor and/or storage inductance during pulse pauses of the PMW control signals.
