摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ranging device capable of always providing a picture in-focus clearly while considering the entire focusing on plural objects distributed in a depth direction by using distance information obtained from each of plural division range-finding areas in multi-area AF(auto focus). SOLUTION: This range-finding device is equipped with a detection means for obtaining object distance information in every division ranging area respectively from plural division range-finding areas set in field and an arithmetic means for obtaining range-finding data on the field by arithmetic operation based on plural pieces of distance information. The arithmetic means finds the distance at which average focusing is obtained by performing specified arithmetic operation in terms of the plural pieces of distance information obtained by the detection means, and performs the arithmetic operation for obtaining one piece of distance information nearest to the value of the distance at which the average focusing is obtained out of the plural pieces of distance information as range-finding data.
